Bruce Clarke Publishes Two Articles
Dr. Bruce Clarke, Horn Professor of Literature and Science, has recently published two scholarly essays: "Embodied Mediation: Avatar and its Systems" in ZMK: Zeitschrift fur Medien- und Kulturforschung 3:1 (2012): 25-42; and "From Information to Cognition: The Systems Counterculture, Heinz von Foerster's Pedagogy, and Second-Order Cybernetics" in Constructivist Foundations 7:3 (July 2012): 196-207 (available at http://www.univie.ac.at/constructivism/journal/articles/7/3/196.clarke.pdf).
In addition, Dr. Clarke has recently delivered papers at two conferences: "Noise and Form: Information and Cognition" at the European Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts Conference, London, England, June 21-23, and "The Paradigm of Ecology in Dune and Steps to an Ecology of Mind" at the American Society for Cybernetics Conference, Asilomar, California, July 9-13. He also delivered an invited lecture, "Approaching Telepathy: Facticity, Critique, Narrative, and the Closure of Communication," at the School of Sociology and Philosophy, University College Cork, Ireland, on July 3.
