TTU Plagiarism Researchers Gain National Attention
A panel presentation on plagiarism by TTU researchers Dr. Susan Lang, Dr. Monica Norris, and Dr. Kathleen Gillis at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in San Francisco was the subject of a March 13 article, "False Positives on Plagiarism," on Inside Higher Ed (www.insidehighered.com/news/2009/03/13/detect). Their research has also been the subject of a March 24 Dallas Morning News article (www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/education/stories/032409dnmetplagiarize.4a81b6b.html) radio and television interviews, and the April 1 lead article on eCampus News (www.ecampusnews.com).
In addition, their article "Electronic Plagiarism Checkers: Barriers to Daveloping an Academic Voice" has been accepted for publication in the August issue of The WAC Journal, a national peer-reviewed journal on writing across the curriculum.
Dr. Lang is Director of First-Year Composition in the Department of English. Dr. Norris is Assistant Director of First-Year Composition. Dr. Gillis is Director of the University Writing Center.
