Three Students Win Sowell Conference Awards
Three students of Dr. Mary Jane Hurst's ENGL 4373 (Linguistic Approaches to Literature) were winners of the Sowell Collection Conference's best student paper competition:
First place: Cari Babitzke
Second place: Quinn Smith
Third place: Jessica Schuhmann
In addition, three students from the class presented papers at the conference: Cari Babitzke, Quinn Smith, and Robert Staley.
All semester students from ENGL 4373 have been working in the Southwest Collection's Sowell Collection. The students also participated in the April 26-28 Sowell Collection Conference, meeting several of the authors (Gretel Ehrlich, Barry Lopez, and David Quammen) that they have been reading.
