URL Mission
The URL's Mission consists of three major components
-
Provide rigorous, methodologically sound tests for clients
-
Offer real world learning opportunities for Tech students and faculty
-
Engage in groundbreaking usability research
We have learned from years of experience that testing real users performing real tasks in realistic environments that can be controlled and monitored is the best approach to assessing usability. So our state-of-the-art testing facilities have been designed so that they can be transformed to represent almost any scenario you require. Situated amidst a diverse university with tens of thousands of students, faculty, and support staff, the URL also has access to a wide range of representative user types.
We believe in testing early and often, in exploring both proven and experimental assessment methods so that your product, process, or software can meet what we call the MEELS Standard: Memorable, Learnable, Error-Free, Efficient, and Satisfying. What is Usability Testing?
To accomplish this:
- we'll work with you to define your representative user groups and the tasks they typically perform;
- we'll adapt the lab environment so that it matches the location(s) where your users interact with your product;
- we'll recruit test participants and then conduct testing;
- we'll employ a balanced mixture of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to discover usability issues or problems;
- and finally we'll report back to you our findings (supplemented with video/audio highlights), pointing out these issues and recommending “best practice” solutions to correcting them.
If you're interested in affordable, thorough usability testing, please contact us.
Our facilities also can be rented for you to carry out your own testing.
